Future Aerospace Engineer at Purdue
focusing on Computational Fluid Dynamics

About Me

Purdue student based in West Lafayette, IN, concentrating on aerospace and CFD.

I am a First-Year Engineering student at Purdue University aiming for a major in aerospace. I'm focusing on mastering OpenFOAM, Ansys Fluent, and aerodynamic design so I can contribute to the future of flight and space exploration. My skills include:

Computational Fluid Dynamics

I am self-taught in OpenFOAM and Ansys Fluent, having run simulations ranging from flow over a cylinder to fans, airfoils, and rockets. From these projects, I’ve learned how to simulate rotating objects, batch run simulations, and create animations for both transient and steady state simulations. Additionally, I optimize for simulation time and accuracy by tweaking y+ values, mesh densities, Courant number, and time step size.

Computer Aided Design

The CAD tool that I’m most experienced with is Fusion 360. I learned basic CAD skills in my high school engineering class, and improved greatly with my keyboard and flight simulator controls personal projects. I’ve used these skills to design rocket fins, simplify geometries for CFD, and create enclosures for use in Fluent. I’m currently learning organic surface modeling by recreating models of my favorite cars.

Programming

My experience of programming comes from MATLAB & Simulink and Java. My MATLAB projects include a rocket flight simulator which accounted for wind, drag, atmospheric density, and starting height. In high school, I learned object-oriented Java. I learned about methods, objects, inheritance, abstract classes, and more. Since I have a deep conceptual understanding of these concepts, I can easily learn the syntax for other languages like Python.

Leadership

As an Eagle Scout, I have a lot of practice with leadership and project management. Because of this, I understand the frustration leaders feel when teammates refuse to carry their weight, but also the usefulness of servant leadership. I contribute my kind of leadership: not only doing my part, but leading by helping others, just as I mentored younger Scouts.
